Digital Portable Two Way Radio

Security services, emergency services, and many other applications can benefit greatly from the enhanced voice & data security offered by digital portables. The ability to operate in legacy analog mode means that most digital portable devices are a good choice for existing operations who are looking to a digital migration in the future.

Apart from the distinct audio clarity and coverage footprint advantages that digital has over analog, these digital portables include many other features that make them attractive to business.

Soft-radio solutions allow PC's to send voice/text to individual portable digital radios - a very useful feature when confidential information may be overheard - eg shopping centre security guards. Also the ability to remotely enable/disable portables on a network means that even if the portable is lost or stolen, the operators of the network can turn off or disable the radio remotely. Some radios include GPS locators or options which allow for the positive location of portables - useful for stolen/lost devices or for emergency Man-Down location.

In the equivalent 12.5kHz radio channel, an analog radio can have 1 voice conversation, a digital system can have at least 2 in the same channel band.
